12 apples, peeled, cored & sliced
Place rings in ice water with juice of 1 lemon
In a saucepan, bring these ingredients to a boil then simmer 3 minutes:
12 C sugar
6 C water
1 1/4 C vinegar
1 T ground cloves
8 cinnamon sticks
1 t red food coloring
Drain apples and add to saucepan. Simmer 5 minutes.
Fill sterilized jars with apples then red syrup to 1/2 inch from rim.
Add 1-2 cinnamon sticks per jar.
Continue the process...
Processing times:
0-1000 ft: 10 min
1001-6000 ft: 15 min
above 6000 ft: 20 min
