WHAT'S FOR DINNER? SPLIT PEA & HAM SOUP (slow cooker recipe)


SPLIT PEA & HAM SOUP
serves 8

16 oz dried split peas
2 C diced fully cooked ham
1 C diced carrots
1 chopped onion
2 cloves minced garlic
2 bay leaves
1/2 t salt
1/2 t pepper
6 C boiling water
1 C hot milk

In your crockpot, layer the first nine ingredients in order listed. 
Do not stir. 
Cover and cook on high for 4-5 hours (low: 7-8 hrs) or until vegetables are tender.


Stir in milk.
Discard bay leaves before serving.
