Whisk together in a bowl:
1 C flour
1/2 t baking soda
1 C sugar
dash salt
In a skillet, bring to boil:
1/4 C butter
1/4 C oil
2 T cocoa powder
1/2 C water
Remove from heat and whisk in dry ingredients.
Then mix in:
1/4 C buttermilk
1 egg
1/2 t vanilla
Bake in preheated oven at 350° for 15 to 20 minutes.
Meanwhile, in a saucepan, bring to boil:
1/4 C butter
2 T cocoa powder
3-4 T milk
Remove from heat.
Add in:
1/2 C chopped pecans
2 C powdered sugar
1/2 t vanilla
Pour icing over warm cake.
