WHAT ARE WE DRINKING? AGUA FRESCA

My sister Kenzie & I are addicted to agua frescas when we're together. She came to visit us for her birthday a couple of weekends ago and one of the places I took her is to Pros Ranch Market where they make 10 or so different flavors of fresh agua frescas everyday.

Years ago, I introduced her to a place in Abilene, TX called Mary's where they make their agua frescas daily as well. I'll never forget the time she asked them how they made agua frescas and the lady laughed in her face.

I'm happy I have found and can share a great recipe for agua fresca.
Cantaloupe and watermelon are my personal favorites. Today I made honey dew.

AGUA FRESCA
serves 6-8

3 C pureed fruit
(watermelon, cantaloupe, strawberries, honeydew, pineapple, lemon, orange, etc.)
8 C water
sugar, to taste
lime juice, to taste

Peel and remove seeds from your fruit of choice.

Puree.

Pour into a pitcher and add water. Add the sugar and lime juice as you stir.

Chill. Serve cold.

This morning 7/4/11 I made Mango Agua Fresca

I needed this recipe. I have been craving flavored drinks lately, and nothing has been hitting the spot. That sounds perfect.
