RECIPE #44: BAKED APPLE PIE DUMPLINGS or TURNOVERS or INDIVIDUAL PIES or PASTRIES or WONTONS or CANAPES

Obviously, I wasn't sure what to call them, so I just put anything I could think of.

I have some apples that are about to go bad in a few days. I wanted to make apple pie but didn't have enough so I decided to make little apple pies.

homemade or store bought pie crust or pastry sheets
chopped apples, peeled & cored
sugar
cinnamon
butter

Roll out the pie crust or pastry 1/4 inch thick; cut into 3 to 5 inch squares (for wontons) or rectangles (for turnovers). Place 1 t to 1 T of apples on one side of the pastry. Top with 1 t or more sugar.

Sprinkle with cinnamon & top with 1/2 t butter each.

Fold the pie crust or pastry over and seal pinching. A little water may be required to help it stick. These will make turnovers.

You can also make canapes or wontons by putting the ingredients in the middle. Fold the pie crust up over the apple, twisting it into little ears at the top.

Brush lightly with milk or cream. Place on a baking sheet, pie plate or pizza stone. Bake in preheated oven of 400 degrees for 10 minutes; then reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake 35 minutes more.

Serve hot or cooled.
