Recipe #11 & #12: Sloppy Sloppy Joes & homemade ketchup

Had 4 buns left over from Tuesday night and didn't want them to go stale so I decided to make sloppy joes...a first for me. Then I realized I didn't have ketchup so I made my own which Ryan & I always like better anyway. And of course Ryan talked me into making those seasoned fries again. They're so good, I couldn't refuse.

KETCHUP

2 - 6oz cans tomato paste
1/2 C water
3 packets of stevia or sugar
1/2 t sea salt
1/2 t garlic powder
1/2 t onion powder
1/2 t dry mustard
1/2 C lemon juice
pinch cinnamon, ground cloves, cumin (optional)
Thoroughly mix all ingredients together. Adjust spices according to your taste. Left over ketchup can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

SLOPPY SLOPPY JOES

1 lb ground beef
1 1/2 C ketchup
1 C chunky salsa
2 T brown sugar
1 T worcestershire sauce
2 T vinegar
2 T dijon mustard
1 t hot sauce
6 hamburger buns

Cook the meat over med-high until it's browned. Stir in the res of the ingredients and mix well. Bring to simmer and cook stirring occasionally over low to med heat for 20 to 30 min. Serve on buns.
